“Ceremony” features NJ based singer/songwriter and long-time Lowlight collaborator Joe Galuppo. “We met Joe in 2014 when we first started playing shows as Lowlight. “We called him ‘The Music Avenger’ after witnessing him (verbally) take down an obnoxious patron at the Railhouse in Rahway, NJ., who was disrupting an artist’s intimate performance.” says Derril. Joe’s vocals soar over this anthemic powerhouse of a song, framing NJ’s favored son in a compelling, new context. “We love and admire Joe’s own work so much, but it was really fun to have him guest star on a song that was atypical of what you’d hear in his solo work.” says Rey.
lyrics
It was warm to the touch
Cold to the feel
Started raining too much
and flooded the fields
All the fictions of earth
All became real
Burnt little leaves
with waterlogged yields
It was warm to the touch
so cold to the feel
Saw my life flash before my eyes
On old reel-to-reels
All the fictions of earth
All became real
I couldn't get home
By clicking my heels
If there was no ceremony
What of it now?
What of it then?
When the rooster cries out
What of all the hens?
You came up for air
ended up with the bends
I came out for air
And came back to no friends
If there was no ceremony
There was no ceremony
